Case Coordinator

Atlanta, GA
Full Time
Mid Level

FreeRent.org is a nonprofit that helps families achieve long-term financial stability by providing rental assistance and support services. We want to see communities where hardworking people have the chance to succeed and build wealth for future generations. We help families facing unexpected challenges by meeting immediate needs, strengthening financial security, and supporting future goals.

About This Role

The FreeRent Atlanta Case Coordinator helps us offer more direct, one-on-one support to families in our programs. This client-facing role is for someone who knows the Atlanta housing and resource scene well and brings empathy and problem-solving skills to every family they help.

The Case Coordinator works closely with the Senior Case Manager to ensure families receive timely, well-coordinated, high-quality support as they move from crisis to stability. This role will also help make FreeRent.Org’s family programs more successful overall through family events, engagements, and creating a strong ecosystem of support.

Key Responsibilities

Client Case Management

  • Manage a caseload of families in FreeRent.Org's referral program and partner support programs, guiding them from intake through support.
  • Meet with clients for intake, assess their needs, and check in regularly to make sure families feel supported throughout their journey.
  • Help families handle urgent needs quickly and with care by connecting them to the right resources, both inside and outside our organization.
  • Keep accurate, up-to-date case notes and records to track outcomes and ensure families receive consistent support.
  • Support alumni resource navigation and help organize ongoing alumni engagement.

Partner Program Support

  • Serve as the main contact for partner organizations that refer clients to FreeRent.Org, ensuring smooth handoffs and clear communication.
  • Stay up to date on Atlanta’s housing and social services to help make effective partner referrals.
  • Build and keep strong relationships with local housing groups, government agencies, and nonprofits that refer families to our programs.

Resource Navigation

  • Help alumni and families from all FreeRent.Org programs find resources, not just those currently in referral or partner support, so support continues even after a program ends.
  • Keep up with local Atlanta resources and agencies, such as housing, financial, legal, health, and social services, as well as national resources, so families always have the latest options.
  • Create and update a resource guide listing the latest local and national resources, making it easy for families to connect quickly to the right support.
  • Actively look for and check out new resources and agencies to give clients and alumni more options.

Program Events & Programmatic Success

  • Help plan and run program events, workshops, and family sessions with the Senior Program Manager and Senior Case Manager.
  • Ensure clients in referral and partner programs connect with financial education and programs that fit their needs.
  • Find gaps or slowdowns in the referral and case management process and suggest ways to improve program results.
  • Help FreeRent.Org’s programs succeed by tracking client progress, spotting trends, and supporting ongoing improvements to case management tools and workflows.
  • Represent FreeRent.Org at community meetings and resource-sharing events related to housing support in Atlanta.

Qualifications

  • Background in Social Work or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience in similar programs, particularly in housing or financial wellness programs.
  • Strong knowledge of Atlanta-area housing and community resources.
  • Experience conducting client intake, needs assessments, goal planning, case documentation, and ongoing case monitoring.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including communicating with clients, landlords/property managers, nonprofit partners, and community organizations.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple cases, deadlines, follow-ups, and priorities simultaneously.
  • Experience with community outreach, partnership development, workshops, or events preferred.
  • Familiarity with trauma-informed and culturally responsive approaches to client services.
